September 7, 2010

Tonight we started out our meeting with the boys trying out tangrams.  If you don't know what a tangram is, it is a puzzle.  You have seven different pieces that you try and arrange in different shapes.  This can be very difficult but our boys figured out how to arrange the pieces into a square.  This is a great activity to keep them busy and can be made with just a plain piece of paper.

Next we made a stencil of our hand and traced it on yellow felt.  The boys cut these out and the plan is to put these on our den flag that we hope to have soon.

Next we broke up into teams and played a fun game to help us review the items needed to be learned to earn the Bobcat badge.  The boys had to bat a balloon up to a table with questions on them.  They picked a question and answered it.  If they weren't sure of the answer they could bat their balloon back and get help from their team.  This is a reminder to all the parents that if your scout doesn't have his Bobcat yet to please work with him on it so that hopefully we can award them next Pack Meeting.

The last thing we did was go outside and practice raising and lowering the flag (minus the flag unfortunately, it was missing in action).

Just a reminder to take some time to look through your scouts book.  Please sign off on any items that they have completed.  If you could flag them that would be a help for us with recording too.  We don't want anyone to miss getting advancements so we need your help.
