For Scouts tonight we worked on Elective 10 American Indian Lore. We started our meeting by licking starch puffs and sticking them into different shapes. I then showed my collection of arrowheads and we talked about what the boys already know about Indians. We read a book called 'Coyote' that tells the legend of how the coyote got its colors.

The boys then wrote stories using the Indian signs found in their scout books. They wrote the stories on brown paper which we used to wrap drums. We finished the drums off with a green felt top.

We had enough time at the end to read another book. This one was called 'Arrow to the Sun' a Caldecott winner and tells a Pueblo Indian tale.
We passed off 10a, 10b and 10f.
