Well summer is over and we are back to our routine. Tonight we worked on Achievement 9 - Be Safe at home and on the street. We discussed all sections briefly and hand-outs were given to be reviewed at home. Please go over this section with your scout this week and sign off on each item completed in the book.
We next moved to the kitchen to learn a magic trick. The scouts made magic wands out of pretzel rods, frosting and sprinkles (hopefully the made it home so they could show you the trick). The magic wand is used to cut a banana without cutting the banana peel.
Of the topics we discussed in Achievement 9 each is in some way able to be related to the information in the Faith in God book. Below are the sections in the Wolf Handbook and the items in the Faith In Good book that they relate to.
9a, 9b, 9c- Developing Talents - List 5 things you can do to help around your home. Discuss the importance of obeying and honoring your parents and learning how to work.
9a- Learning and Living the Gospel - Learn to sing Choose the Right. Explain agency and what it means to be responsible for choices. Discuss how making good choices has helped you develop a greater faith.
9a- Serving Others - Read the 12 Article of Faith. Discuss what it means to be a good citizen and how your actions can affect others.
9a, 9b, 9c, 9d, 9e- Serving Others - Plan and hold a parent-child activity, such as a dinner, picnic, hike, day trip, or service project.
9b- Developing Talents - Plan a physical fitness program for yourself that may include learning to play a sport or game. Participate in the program for one month.
