Gathering Activity: Ann
Ann set up a game. There were 12 disposable cups set on the table. The boys had 60 seconds to blow up a balloon and use the air being released to push the cups off of the table. Eli B. was the fastest Wolf and Carter the fastest Bear.
Opening Exercises: Denner James G. was last month's denner. After leading us in opening exercies we passed the denner cord on to Eli B. for this month.
Lesson:
1. Chalkboard: learn tool names and write them on chalkboard
2. What’s missing? Game: Cover tools; take one or more items away and have scouts name the tool that is missing
Stations:
1. Screwdrivers: learn names of screw drivers; practice starting a screw
2. Nails: practice nailing in and removing nails
3. Needle nose pliers: cut paper clip
Craft: Ring toss
1. Find center of board; have adult drill hole at center
2. Screw predrilled dowel rod onto board
3. Paint ring toss blue
4. Make different sizes of yellow pipe cleaner rings
Closing exercises: Denner
We practiced using one of the ring tosses we made. We'll bring them to pack meeting to play with and then the boys can take them home.
We passed off all of Acheivement 5. Look over Electives 3 and 4 for fun activities to do at home. Also, at Michaels they have wood model boats, space ships, trains for $1 a piece. They come with the glue, sandpaper, and paint. These would be easy ways to pass off an elective (and to pass some summer hours).
